In a world where your car has a GPS navigation system and you can download weather maps onto your phone, why should your airplane lag behind? Computing power has increased exponentially year over year for the last decade, and Cessna has stayed right at the front of development. Today, every aircraft we sell comes standard with an all digital Garmin Glass Cockpit. The Garmin G1000 is considered by many to be the greatest innovation for general aviation since the gyroscope.
With all of your flight instruments in one place, the large, easy to ready PFD makes instrument or VFR flying a breeze. The design and layout of your primary instruments was inspired by airliner cockpit systems and carefully refined by human factors experts. The result is an intuitive design that gives you excellent situational awareness. Finally, unlike the old vacuum pump driven gyros of yesteryear, the G1000 system is based around solid state electronics with no moving parts to wear out and break down just as you enter IMC.
On the right hand screen you'll find everything you need for perfect situational awareness. As you can see, this begins with the engine instruments. In clear, color coded, easy to read format, you'll find manifold pressure, RPM, fuel flow, oil, pressure, oil temperature, exhaust temperature, cylinder temperature, fuel remaining, as well as amp draws and voltages for both your main and standby electrical systems.

On the large moving map display, you can easily see terrain, airports, airspace, your flight plan, and much more.
One of the latest advancements for the G1000 is Synthetic Vision Technology, or SVT. This is an optional software upgrade that uses terrain data from the worldwide database to render your surroundings in 3D and in real time right in front of you on the PFD.

You will clearly see mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, coastlines, and islands. This terrain will be clearly color coded Yellow if you are within 1000 feet or Red if you are within 100 feet.
Even if you're not flying in mountainous terrain, you will find SVT is still incredibly helpful. In addition to all of the natural features, you will also see airports, runways, towers, buildings, and even nearby aircraft. Even when the weather is at minimums, flying an instrument approach is a breeze when you can see the runway right in front of you.
The only thing constant about the weather is that it's always changing. While forecasts have come a long way over the years, there is no substitute for real time information. The G1000 offers you the ability to have a full weather briefing station right in the cockpit via its satellite based weather datalink.

After weather and terrain, the biggest potential blind spots for pilots are other aircraft. The G1000 is equipped with an ATC datalink that allows you to see all the other aircraft in the area. They are displayed right on your MFD along with their direction of flight, altitude, and whether they are level, climbing, or descending. If they get too close, they will turn yellow and you will hear "Traffic!" in your headset to alert you to the potential conflict.
For in flight entertainment, the G1000 is equipped with XM radio. You'll have complete access to over 200 channels of rock, pop, jazz, oldies, classical, hip-hop, R&B, swing, bluegrass, country, and just about everything else. You'll also get plenty of talk radio, news, comedy, and even Howard Stern.
XM Radio also has your sports covered. You'll be able to follow your favorite teams with live broadcasts of games from the NFL, NBA, NCAA, NHL, NASCAR Races, and Much More!
